Fine Art and Scientific Photographer

Delia Giovannucci

My photographic work combines my lifelong passions for science and art.

Both subjects were an important part of my life growing up; I obsessed over books on wildlife and the natural world, tracing images to learn to draw, and found myself equally captivated by art and science classes throughout my academic career. My discovery of photography in high school guided me toward a career where I could combine these interests.

I initially came to Rochester Institute of Technology for the arts, but discovering the Photographic Sciences program opened new possibilities. In my work, I merge the techniques and detail-oriented approach of Photographic Science with the creative freedom of Fine Art. My work explores themes of mental health, biology, and our natural environment, expressed through mediums such as digital and film photography, cyanotypes, paint, collages, and fiber arts.

The integration of science and photography continues to push my work forward. I am excited to see how my art will evolve as my skills deepen and discover new ways to reflect the beauty and complexity of our world.
